Reading in public again

Last night (Tuesday 27th August) I read from my short story ‘Inchkeith’ at the launch of New Writing Scotland issue 31, in Blackwell’s at Edinburgh South Bridge, at which an enjoyable time was had by all. I was delighted to get the story into the magazine in the first place, and although the prospect of reading in public always makes me feel sick with nerves, demanding a high volume of Dutch courage, I thought my own attempt went very well. This was only the third time that I’ve done a public reading, and each time it becomes slightly easier. It felt like a great honour to be picked for the launch anyway.
